10: Preston K - Time

A major core memory I had was a day that me Noe and Jordan all went out for a long car ride and wound up taking a golf cart. The day started with asking one's parents to let him come over so we can go train in the morning for track and after to just hangout for 4 hours. Right after I picked up Noe to hangout our plan was on. The Plan was to take note of my house so he can drop off his phone, meet Jordan at his house then rip on back roads all the way to Lake Herman. Shockingly enough the plan went smooth, and we were on the road cruising, music blasting and huge smiles all the way through back roads. Moments like that made me really appreciate time. Having free time allowed me to create new memories with my two closest friends who I consider my last 2 brain cells.

After cruising for a long time, the motors in our cars were hot so we pulled over to let them cool down. While letting them cool we had the bright idea to playfight in the middle of the street and race cars as they passed. This made time fly by. What was an hour and a half felt like 10 minutes?

As we started walking back to the cars to leave, I noticed out of the corner of my eye a golf cart and from that moment it was on. We all looked at each other in silence, not a single word exchanged and ran to our carts and raced to get to the carts. We were on a serious mission to drive a golf cart. After some investigating and asking questions, we found where carts were parked and ran across the street all the way to a parking lot, and in the parking, lot was exactly what you would expect. One single Golf cart.

An old man who had seen and heard us laughing told us if the key was in the cart, we could take it and return the cart so we did exactly that… But not without a joy ride. That was one of the best times of my life driving a super slow cart with all three of us sitting in the little cart. The best part is Noe the one with no license was the one who took the wheel and drove us down the side of a hill so we didn't get caught by the security. After the amazing joy ride we returned the cart of course and ran back to our cars because Noe had to be home in 28 minutes and that's a huge deal. We had our foots to the floor and made it back with 6 minutes to spare.

  1. II remember the day after Jordan came in and raved to me about it. I loved that you were able to create a core memory with your close friends before our high school time is it out. Our times running out to make these experiences so we best live in the moment while we can.

  2. Hi Preston, I like how your core memory is just having fun with
your friends and wasting time. Towards the end of your guys’ time
you had to rush home to get Noe home in time and you made it
    with 6 minutes to spare.
